portrait of Shepherd with white rose
By rbeerhorst on November 7th, 2006
This is a brand new painting in a ongoing series of small portraits of my children. It is only 8″ x 10″ and painted onto a wooden panel with oil paint. Currently it is without a frame. The eye replaced with a flower speaks of a new way of seeing. Seeing through the eye of love. The rose is a classic symbol for love. I think the structure of all those gently unfolding petels say something of what love is like. I know a painting is close to being done when I find myself getting drawn into staring at it for long periods of time.

Very cool Rick.
Love changes many things…I think it was Pascal who said, “The heart has reasons which are unknown to reason.”

You paintings have a quiet mystery about them, and this one is wonderful. I am also quite enamored of all your dumpster findings.
